Neaton earns scholarship; Spruce Kings add American forward

Prince George Spruce Kings goaltender Logan Neaton (’99) will play south of the border in the 2019-20 season after he committed to the University of Massachusetts-Lowell River Hawks of the NCAA.

The Brighton, Michigan native has a 19-4-0-1 record.

He leads the BCHL in wins and goals-against-average (GAA), and is second in save-percentage (SV%).

Meanwhile, the Spruce Kings have acquired 19-year-old forward Spencer DenBeste from the Springfield Jr. Blues of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) in return for future considerations.

DenBeste, from Marquette, Michigan had four goals and four assists in 24 games with Springfield this season.

He is committed to Lake Superior State University next season, where he’ll play alongside Spruce Kings forward Dustin Manz.

The Spruce Kings, #17 this week in the CJHL national rankings, host the Surrey Eagles Friday and Saturday in their final home games in 2018.

Friday night is the annual Drop the Gloves and Sock it to ‘Em game, where fans are asked to bring warm winter clothing in bags to throw onto the ice when the Spruce Kings score their first goal.
