PG swimmer makes big splash with two top-10 results at World Finals

Prince George Barracudas swimmer Haley Black peaked at the right time at the FINA World Short Course Championships in Hangzhou, China.

The 22-year-old Black capped off her week with a sixth-place finish in the finals of the women’s 100-metre butterfly.

Earlier, she placed seventh in the 50-metre butterfly final and also set a Canadian record in the preliminary heats of the 50-fly.

She had been ranked 28th in the 100-fly and seeded 29th in the 50-fly going into the preliminaries.

Black graduated this year from Auburn University in Alabama and currently trains at the Vancouver High-Performance Centre.
