Cariboo Cougars fall short of Telus Cup, lose OT heartbreaker to Calgary

So close it hurts.

That’s probably the best way to describe the feeling inside every Cariboo Cougars player right now after they fell 3-2 in overtime on Saturday against the Calgary Buffaloes in Game Two of the Pacific Regionals.

Jayden Grubbe scored 46 seconds into overtime for the host Buffaloes who will head to the Telus Cup National Championship April 22-28 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The Major Midget Cats fought tooth and nail against the Buffaloes as they never trailed in the game until the overtime.

Booker Daniel and Curtis Hammond lit the lamp for the Cougars in defeat while Xavier Cannon took the loss in goal.

The Cougars dropped Game one on Friday by a 5-2 score.
