Bandits exact revenge on Spruce Kings to even up Doyle Cup

Momentum might be a fleeting thing when looking at the 2019 version of the Doyle Cup.

Twenty-four hours after falling 2-0 to the Prince George Spruce Kings on Friday, the Brooks Bandits made up for their first goose egg on home ice since 2014 with a 3-1 victory on Saturday forcing a Game Three in Brooks.

The Bandits came out like gang-busters in the opening 20 minutes jumping out to a 2-0 lead and outshooting the Spruce Kings 22-3.

Tyler Campbell and Arnaud Vachon lit the lamp for Brooks beating Logan Neaton who did his best to keep the game close early on.

Prince George played a much better second period and got the only marker of the middle frame courtesy of just turned 16-year-old forward Finlay Williams, who let a wrist shot go that handcuffed Bandits netminder Pierce Charleson.

In the third, Jakob Lee recorded the insurance marker for Brooks going top-shelf on Neaton to preserve the split in front of 1,191 fans at the Centennial Regional Arena.

The Bandits outshot the Spruce Kings 41-14 in the game and will drop the puck again tonight
(Sunday) at 6:00 PT to cap-off the Alberta portion of the series.

It will then shift to the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena for Games Four and Five slated for Wednesday and Thursday at 7pm followed by Game Six and Seven Saturday and Sunday if needed.
