    Prince George welcomes wildfire evacuees from the Chilcotin

    The City of Prince George's Emergency Operations Centre has been activated as the City welcomes evacuees from the Chilcotin. There are currently multiple wildfires burning in the western reaches of the Cariboo Fire Centre, which prompted a number of evacuation orders and alerts from the Cariboo Regional District last week. 

    Campfire prohibition to be put in place across PG Fire Centre

    Starting Monday, Category 1 fires will be prohibited across the Prince George Fire Centre.

    Beef Trail Creek Fire Area Under Evacuation Order

    The Evacuation Order is for 150 parcels in Beef Trail Creek Fire Area north of Anahim Lake covering 86,850 hectares.The CRD stated due to immediate danger to life safety due to fire, members of the RCMP or other groups will be expediting this action and you must leave the area immediately.

    Most of new long weekend fire starts in PG Fire Centre out or under control

    The Labour Day long weekend was an active one in the province for the B.C. Wildfire Service.According to the Wildfire Service, nearly 6,000 lightning strikes were recorded over the weekend, resulting in 119 new wildfires.

    Currently, there are 37 wildfires in the PG Fire Centre, none are of note - this year 714,269 hectares have burned in our area.

    The BC Wildfire Service continues to battle wildfires, with 43 currently burning in the Prince George Fire Centre region.

    Snaking River Fire Area Evacuation Alert lifted

    It was issued on August 3rd for 190 parcels in the Nazko area covering 22, 738 hectares.

    Cooler conditions expected to help with Dorman Lake Wildfire

    The BC Day long weekend saw 59 new fires start in the Prince George Fire Centre, according to the BC Wildfire Service. "Most of those new starts in PGFC are from that thunderstorm activity that we saw last week," said Fire Information Officer Jeromy Corrigan.
