Premier David Eby got a firsthand look at one of B.C.’s largest infrastructure projects as he toured the newly named John Horgan Dam and Generating Station during his visit to northern B.C.
The B.C. government is considering reviving two long-dormant hydroelectric projects, including the proposed Site E dam on the Peace River, as it looks for new sources of electricity to meet growing demand.
The Site C Project has reached another major milestone with the dam's fifth generating unit coming online today.
"Commissioning the fifth generating unit at Site C is a significant step towards securing more clean and affordable electricity for communities, homes and businesses," said Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions Adrian Dix.
"From discovering what UNBC has to offer, to cheering on the Timberwolves and reconnecting with alumni, there are many ways to be part of the week and to celebrate the connections between campus and community."
UNBC drops to 0-10 on the campaign and will be in Victoria and Vancouver Friday and Saturday to play the Vikes and Thunderbirds. Kickoff each night is at 5pm.
