New plan for Cottonwood Island Park

The City of Prince George has a new plan for Cottonwood Island Park.

Parks Supervsior, Sean LeBrun says a consultant will be brought in to help determine the project’s next steps.

“Bring in a consultant, examine the trail from start to finish there is a quite a stretch not only in Cottonwood Island, but in Heritage River Trail itself, it’s been damaged over the years due to the high water marks.”

Parts of the Heritage Trail System were hurt by extensive flooding this year.

The foot bridge will also be closed until an engineering assessment decides whether it should be repaired or replaced.

Many sections of the river side trail have been damaged by erosion and need to be re-routed.
