Giant snowman idea gets the cold shoulder from city hall

Prince George City HallĀ has ploughed down the idea of building a giant snowman.

A resident had submitted an email to city council, asking for them to consider to building the sculpture next to Mr. PG, similar to one made in Kitimat a few years ago.

At last night’s council meeting, council and administration came to the decision not to support the idea.

Director of Legal Services Walter Babicz says this is creative, and they don’t want to discourage initiatives like this from coming forward.

“But in the case, the sheer size of the proposed structure has administration concerned,” says Babicz, “about injuries due to people climbing and perhaps young children playing on it.”

Babicz says Work Safe BC has several regulations that would be triggered by a giant snowman being built.
