The UNBC Timberwolves had a tie and a loss in their Canada West men’s soccer home games against the Fraser Valley Cascades at Masich Place Stadium.
The two teams had a 1-1 draw Friday and Fraser Valley won the Sunday rematch 3-1.

The 1-2-1 UNBC men’s soccer team will play its next games Friday and Saturday night in Victoria against the 2-2 Vikes.
The Timberwolves women’s soccer team starts its season with a home game Thursday at noon against Thompson Rivers at Masich Place Stadium.
Tennis:
19-year-old Canadian Bianca Andreescu beat American Taylor Townsend 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 under the lights in 4th-round action at the US Open.
The 15th seeded Andreescu has advanced to the quarter-final round where she will meet No. 25, Elise Mertens of Belgium, Wednesday night.

Defending women’s champion and top-seeded Naomi Osaka’s is out at the U.S. Open after losing in the 4th-round 7-5, 6-4 to 13th-seeded Belinda Bencic of Switzerland.

CFL:
Calgary Stampeders 25 Edmonton Eskimos 9
Calgary has won the last eight Labour Day tilts against Edmonton.
QB Bo Levi Mitchell played his first game since June 29th and completed 19-of-28 pass attempts for 263 yards and a touchdown.
The 6-4 Stampeders and 6-5 Eskimos meet again Saturday in Edmonton.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats 38 Toronto Argonauts 27
The 9-2 Ti-Cats are 6-0 at home and have opened up an eight-point lead over second-place Montreal in the East Division.
The Argos are 1-9.
On Sunday, Saskatchewan beat Winnipeg 19-17 on a last-play field goal.
The two teams meet again Saturday in Winnipeg.
The 8-3 Blue Bombers are two points ahead of the 7-3 Roughriders.
Saskatchewan is riding a six-game win streak.

The Canadian men’s basketball team lost 92-69 today (Tuesday) to No. 7 Lithuania at the FIBA World Cup in China.
Canada is 0-2 after also dropping its opener 108-92 against Australia.
Canada wraps up the preliminary round against 0-2 Senegal on Thursday before travelling to Shanghai for two classification games that could clinch them a spot in a second-chance qualifier.
