Finlay Williams scored both goals for the Spruce Kings, who raised their championship banners just prior to the game before an opening night crowd of 1,239.
It was the Spruce Kings first home loss since December of 2018.
The same teams play again tonight at 7:00 at the RMCA.

Matéj Toman scored the only PG goal. Isaiah DiLaura stopped 29 of 36 shots in net.
The Cougars continue their exhibition schedule tonight at 7:00 in Langley against the Vancouver Giants and Sunday night at 5:30 in Kelowna against the Rockets.
The Cats also play pre-season games on Thursday the 12th and Saturday the 14th in Dawson Creek against the Edmonton Oil Kings.

The PG Cougars have signed forward Fischer O’Brien (’03) and defenceman Ethan McColm (’02) to WHL Standard Player Agreements.
O’Brien, the younger brother of former Cougar Brogan O’Brien, played for the Cariboo Cougars last season.
McColm played Midget AAA in his home province of Manitoba a year ago.
Fischer and O’Brien are the third and fourth players to sign this week, following defencemen Joe Kennedy (’01) and Aiden Reeves (’02).
