Einarson headed to PG after winning Canadian Women’s Curling Championship

Manitoba’s Kerri Einarson won the National Scotties Tournament of Hearts for the first time after an 8-7 victory in an extra end over Ontario’s Rachel Homan in the final that was played tonight (Sunday) in Moose Jaw.

Ontario trailed 7-3 before scoring two in the 9th and stealing two more in the 10th.

The 32-year-old Einarson, third Val Sweeting, second Shannon Birchard and lead Briane Meilleur of the Gimli Curling Club will represent Canada at the World Women’s Curling Championship in Prince George March 14-22.

It is the 11th time Manitoba has won the Scotties tying Saskatchewan for most all-time.

Einarson also gets a return trip to next year’s nationals in Thunder Bay, Ont., as Team Canada.

Homan beat Jennifer Jones and her Winnipeg wild-card team 8-3 in the semifinal.
