More than half of BC’s 47 new cases of COVID-19 are people under age 40

BC Health Officials confirmed 47 people tested positive for COVID-19 today (Wednesday).

The province has a total of 3,834, with 91 of those in Northern Health.

There are no new cases in the north.

This comes after BC saw 146 infections over a four-day span.

There are 351 active cases in the province, 3,288 people who tested positive have recovered.

Currently, nine individuals are hospitalized with the virus, six of them are in intensive care.

There have been no new deaths and the death toll remains at 195.

Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry notes that there are no new community outbreaks, however, there continues to be community exposure events throughout the province and on flights into and out of BC.

“Younger people, in particular, may not fully understand why many of the activities they normally enjoy are no longer available, look different and require us to interact with each other in new ways,” added Henry.
