NHL: (North Division)

Ottawa  4  Toronto  3

The Vancouver Canucks start a 4-game road trip when they visit the (10-20-1) Ottawa Senators tonight (4:00 PT). The (13-16-2) Canucks are 3-0 against the Senators this season, outscoring Ottawa 16-3 in Vancouver in late January. Vancouver will also visit Ottawa Wednesday plus the Montreal Canadiens on Friday and Saturday. The Canucks are coming off Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Edmonton, where Thatcher Demko made 34 saves.

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings will compete in an abbreviated BCHL season starting the first week of April. The plan is for the Spruce Kings to play 18 or 20 games, likely in Chilliwack but the location and details still have to be finalized. The BCHL is planning to have 16 teams (Wenatchee and Langley not taking part) play out of pods in Alberni Valley, Chilliwack, Coquitlam, Penticton, and Vernon.

 

Curling:

Team Alberta, skipped by Brendan Bottcher, won the Canadian men’s curling championship (Tim Hortons Brier) in Calgary. Bottcher beat Wild Card Two’s Kevin Koe 4-2 in the final. Bottcher settled for silver in each of the last three Brier finals. Koe was trying to win a record fifth Brier title as a skip. Saskatchewan’s Matt Dunstone placed 3rd.

NFL:

At age 42, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has officially announced his retirement after 20 seasons in the NFL. Brees leaves the game with the most passing yards in NFL history.
