PG fire crews respond to third structure fire in three days

Prince George Firefighters have been busy over the Labour Day long weekend.

Just after 4pm today (Sunday), crews responded to a structure fire in the 200 block of Ospika Boulevard North.

Fire personnel located a blaze burning on a third floor balcony of the building.

Crews extinguished the fire.

No occupants were home at the time of the fire. Damage to the balcony and exterior of the building is estimated at $25,000.

The cause of the fire is accidental.

This is the third structure fire in three days PG firefighters have extinguished.

On Friday, crews responded to a Central Street condo blaze that resulted in $200,000 worth of damage.

Two people sustained cuts and minor abrasions from breaking windows in order to evacuate the building.

The cause is under investigation but not considered suspicious.

In addition, the PG RCMP are investigating a suspicious fire at the old Aboriginal Infant Development Program building located at 138 George Street.

Firefighters responded just after 11 AM yesterday (Saturday).

The damage estimate is $40,000.
