Conditions are expected to dip to minus nine starting tomorrow (Tuesday) followed by snow on Wednesday.

However, Environment Canada Meteorologist, Doug Lundquist told MyPGNow.com the plus temperatures will return by the end of the week.

“It’s just temporary, the warming will come Wednesday night into Thursday but remember when we go arctic air back to the warm air we almost have to have snow so we can expect some snow to accumulate with that next one.”

In most cases, these back and forth conditions usually last a little bit longer this time of year.

“The thing that is probably not common about it is that it’s going to last such a short period of time such as 48 hours or a couple of days. It usually comes in, lasts for about a week, and retreats for a few weeks, so in a sense, we are lucky it is just briefly coming back at us,” added Lundquist.

“It’s the middle of winter and it’s normal for us to swing back and forth between the Pacific and Arctic air. We do have showers for later on today (Monday) and the arctic air should bring temperatures down to around -15 overnight.”

In addition, a snowfall warning has been issued for Highway 97 and the Pine Pass.

About 5 to 10 centimetres is expected to fall.
