Prince George RCMP appealing to the public for video of downtown explosion

The explosion that rocked downtown Prince George this morning (Thursday) was heard all throughout the city.

“I was just making breakfast this morning and I heard some big rumble twice and I thought oh it must be an explosion downtown or something,” said Brendon Stannard, a PG resident.

“Sure enough, couple hours later I come downtown and a building’s gone.”

“I was just sleeping, and I heard this massive sound and I honestly thought it was a really big earthquake,” said Angela Gale.

“I woke up and I looked outside but I didn’t hear anything after that, any shaking, so I just laid in bed until it passed and went back to sleep.”

Additionally the Prince George RCMP are reaching out to the public for video footage of the explosion.

“We are seeing on social media that there are several videos from people who passed by the scene moments after the explosion occurred,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

“We are requesting those person contact our non-emergency line to speak with investigators as we would like to see the original footage.”

Cooper said these videos could be very important to the police investigation.
