The Prince George RCMP made progress in an investigation with the help of two youth last week.
Police say on Friday, just before 2:00 p.m., they received a report of an incident that involved two youth and a third party, where the youth, shaken up by the incident, immediately called 9-1-1.
The youth provided a detailed description of the suspect and his last known direction of travel, helping officers locate the suspect a short distance from where the incident occurred, where he was placed under arrest.
“Investigators are highlighting this incident as it is a great example of how quick, detailed reporting can influence the direction of a police investigation.” said Corporal Jennifer Cooper.
“While we understand there will be instances when immediate reporting is not an option for victims or witnesses, the closer to an event occurring that it is reported, can impact the chances of a suspect being caught or of preserving evidence.”
Mounties say the suspect in this matter was later released on an undertaking with conditions, with the victims working closely with the Prince George RCMP Victim Services Unit.
