Much like the rest of the B.C. Conservatives, Roslyn Bird soared past the competition during Saturday’s provincial election.
Bird earned a second term in Victoria after claiming 51 percent of the vote in the Prince George-Valemount riding, defeating the NDP’s Carol Bourque and Jodie Capling of the BC Greens.
It was another clean sweep for the provincial Tories in the PG area as incumbent MLA’s Kiel Giddens and Sheldon Clare both won handily in Prince George-Mackenize and PG-North Cariboo.
Elsewhere, Diane Black replaced John Rustad as the Conservative MLA in Nechako Lakes.
She beat Jesse Gervais of the NDP – picking up 66 percent of the vote.
Province-wide, the Conservatives are leading or elected in 64 ridings while the NDP is ahead in 27. Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Lorne Doerkson is now the premier-designate.
The BC Greens are in third, leading or elected in two ridings.
According to Elections BC, the preliminary voter turnout was just over 47 percent.
