Timberwolves defender Hagon Kim claims Canada West Men’s Soccer Community Service Award

Fourth-year UNBC Men’s Soccer defender Hagon Kim took home some post-season hardware.

He is the winner of the 2026 Canada West Men’s Soccer Community Service Award.

Kim, who currently serves as the President of the Timberwolves Student Athlete Society (TSAS), captured this honour thanks to his combined excellence on the pitch, in the classroom and the local community.

He started all 15 games he appeared in, while scoring two goals and adding one assist. In 58 career appearances at UNBC he’s totalled 58 starts, five goals and seven assists for 12 points.

In the classroom, Kim’s impact was equally as impressive. Kim reached U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian honours for the first time during the 2025-26 year with a GPA of 4.22.

As President of TSAS, he helped lead the society to a record-breaking year for its annual MVP campaign, raising more than $12,000 in 2026. The funds were then directed to a local family rebuilding their lives after escaping domestic violence.

“I am incredibly proud of Hagon for all the work he does for UNBC athletics and the community of Prince George,” shared Men’s Soccer head coach Steve Simonson. “Although he doesn’t do it for the recognition, I think it is fitting that he has earned the CW Community Service Award. His selfless actions on and off the field are a shining example of what a student-athlete can truly be capable of and the recognition is well deserved.”

Kim is the second UNBC Men’s Soccer Player to capture a Community Service Award. Back in 2018, UNBC Men’s Soccer alumnus Francesco Bartolillo captured the U SPORTS Community Service Award.
