–The Salmon Arm Silverbacks crushed the visiting Prince George Spruce Kings 9-2 in BCHL pre-season action. Salmon Arm outshot P.G. 35-26. It was the first of four exhibition games for the Spruce Kings, who cut goalies
Bailey DePalma and Liam McCloskey plus forward Jacob Malloch & defenceman Tavis Roch following the game.

–The Spruce Kings and Silverbacks play another exhibition Tuesday in 100 Mile House. The Spruce Kings also meet the Vipers in Vernon on September 12th and host Vernon September 13th to conclude the pre-season.

–30 year old former P.G. Spruce Kings forward Rod Pelley has signed a 1-year, 2-way contract with the New Jersey Devils.

–The Prince George Cougars two home exhibition games will be played this week at CN Centre. The Cougars entertain the Edmonton Oil Kings Friday and Saturday.

–Former Prince George Barracuda Danica Ludlow (now swimming out of Victoria) competed with the Canadian team at the Junior Pan Pacific swim meet in Maui. The 18-year-old Ludlow finished 11th in the 1500m freestyle, 11th in both the 400 and 800 free, 14th in the 200 free and was part of the 4×200 free relay that ended up 4th. Haley Black of the P.G. Barracudas was scheduled to participate in the same competition but was on the sidelines with a mild concussion.
