Prince George volunteers help serve, clean local drop-in centre

United Way Northern BC (UWNBC) partnered with Stantec Consulting to help the Saint Vincent de Paul Society Tuesday afternoon.

Volunteers participated in a “Day of Caring” event where they served food and cleaned up at the drop-in centre.

“What we’re doing is we’re assisting not-for-profit organizations with a project, they may not have the means to get the project and they need some helping hands,” says UWNBC’s Michele Brooke.

“So we ask our corporate partners to partner with us and bring the two together for a match.”

This is not the first project UWNBC has been a part of.

Brooke says the organization makes multiple calls at the start of the year to set up as many projects as they can.

“It’s just good to give back to the community and to connect organizations and not-for-profits and build those communication channels,” Brooke explains.
