The historical season of the Prince George Spruce Kings took another big step on Tuesday.

Despite allowing four power play goals, the visitors escaped Powell River with a wild 5-4 victory in game four of their best-of-seven Coastal Conference Championship series.

The Spruce Kings broke out like gangbusters in the first period jumping out to a 2-0 lead as Blake Hayward and Nolan Welsh tickled the twine against Powell River goaltender Mateo Paler-Chow.

However, the advantage would be short-lived due to back-to-back penalties by Nick Bochen and Dylan Anhorn early in the second which led to goals from Carmine Buono and Neal Samanski to even the score at two.

Powell River then took its only lead of the night less two minutes later when Ben Berard found the back of the net against Evan DeBrouwer making it 3-2.

Welsh and Layton Ahac reignited the offensive attack for Prince George scoring 43 seconds apart reclaiming the one-goal lead.

Both teams traded goals in the third courtesy of Dustin Manz (for PG) and Kevin Obssuth.

Powell River outshot the Spruce Kings 37-26.

The Spruce Kings lead the series 3-1 with game five set for Thursday at 7 PM from the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
