PG residents raise awareness at 7th annual Ride Don’t Hide event

Just under 100 people put the pedal to the pavement to raise awareness for mental health today (Sunday).

The 7th annual Ride Don’t Hide event hit the streets of Prince George, raising money for the Prince George Canadian Mental Health Association.

Mary Lu Spagrud Ride Don’t Hide Coordinator said all the money will go towards rebuilding the association’s clubhouse.

“Last year our clubhouse burnt down and that is a building we used for housing several of our programs in PG.”

Riders had the opportunity to participate in rides from 5km to 50km.

“It’s about changing the idea. It’s about breaking some of the myths that are out there and recognizing we all have mental health some days it’s great, and we can handle stress in life, and some days it’s not so good.”

So far the event has raised over $8000 but, Spagrud said they are accepting donations until July 16th.
