The Prince George Youth Baseball Association begins the 2019 BC Minor Baseball 15U AA Provincial Championship today at Nechako Park.
The Prince George Knights play their first game of the tournament today at 3pm against the Vancouver Expos.

Week 8 of the CFL season kicks off tonight with a doubleheader
Winnipeg Blue Bombers (5-1) take on the winless (0-6) Toronto Argonauts while the Hamilton Ti-Cats (5-1) are in Saskatchewan (3-3) to play the Riders.
The BC Lions are on a bye.
In a trade yesterday, Saskatchewan dealt QB Zach Collaros to the Argos for a conditional draft pick.

Former PG Cougar Chase Witala will be playing in North America this season.
He signed a one-year contract with the Jacksonville Icemen of the ECHL who are affiliated with the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets.
Witala recorded 51 points last season playing in Germany.

Jared Young of Prince George went hitless in four at-bats in a 7-1 loss against the Chattanooga Lookouts on Wednesday.
He has a .232 batting average with the AA Tennessee Smokies this season who are affiliated with the Chicago Cubs.
The Smokies are 46-63 on the season.
They are back in action tonight against Mississippi.

The Toronto Blue Jays were busy during Wednesday’s MLB Trade Deadline.
Aaron Sanchez, Joe Biagini (Bee-ah-g-nee) along with prospect Cam Stevenson were dealt to the Houston Astros for minor league prospect Derek Fisher.

The New York Rangers have bought out defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk
Shattenkirk has two years remaining on his contract, which carries a $6.65 million cap hit and he will become an unrestricted free agent.
The 30-year-old scored two goals and added 26 assists over 73 games with the Rangers in 2018-19, his second season with the club.
