NHL:

Canucks scored five goals in the first.

J.T. Miller tallied twice, including the 100th of his career.

Every single Vancouver forward registered at least one point on the scoresheet.

The (7-3-1) Canucks play three games in four days in California this week; they visit LA Wednesday (7:30), Anaheim Friday (7:00) and San Jose Saturday (7:00).

There are nine NHL games tonight with four Canadian teams in action: Toronto hosts Washington, Calgary is at Carolina, Edmonton visits Detroit and Winnipeg faces off in Anaheim.

St. Louis Blues high-scoring forward  Vladimir Tarasenko will be sidelined at least five months after undergoing left shoulder surgery.

Tarasenko has 10 points in 10 games this season.

Evgeni Malkin is back at practice with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

He is hoping to return to the lineup Saturday against Edmonton.

Malkin was injured during the second game of the season.

WHL: (PG Cougars)

The Prince George Cougars are 1-1 on a four-game road trip that will continue Friday in Kelowna and wrap up Saturday in Spokane.

Goalie Tyler Brennan, who made 37 saves Sunday in the Cats 3-2 overtime victory over the Vancouver Giants, is headed to the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Medicine Hat and Swift Current.

The tournament runs Nov 2nd to 9th.

The 16-year-old Brennan has a 2.08 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage in his rookie year in the WHL.

Cougars starting goalie Taylor Gauthier is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury suffered Saturday in a 5-2 loss to the Tri-City Americans.

The (4-9-0-1) Cougars are last in the Western Conference, two points behind the (5-5-1) Victoria Royals and four back of the (5-5-2-1) Seattle Thunderbirds and (6-6-1) Spokane Chiefs.

Prince George has 11 games in November, including action at CN Centre against Medicine Hat Nov. 6th and Victoria Nov. 8th and 9th.

BCHL: 
(PG Spruce Kings)

The Prince George Spruce Kings begin their 13-game November schedule by hosting the (8-11) Langley Rivermen Friday and Saturday.

The (6-9-2-1) Spruce Kings are 4th in the Mainland Division, a point behind Langley and two ahead of the (6-12-0-1) Surrey Eagles.

BC Major Midget League: (Cariboo Cougars)

The (8-1-0-1) Cariboo Cougars will host the (11-0-0-1) league-leading Okanagan Rockets Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Kin 1.

The Major Midget Cougars are in 4th place in the 11-team BCMML, but just a point behind the (9-3) Vancouver NE Chiefs and the (9-3) Vancouver NW Hawks with the Cats holding two games in hand.

Softball:

Infielder Nicholas Potskin of Prince George has been named by Softball Canada to the 2020 Men’s National Team Athlete Pool.

The 22-year-old Potskin is one of 44 athletes on the list.

Players named to the Athlete Pool are eligible to be invited to Men’s National Team training, development and selection camps.


MLB:
(World Series)

The Houston Astros can capture their second World Series title in three years with one more victory.

The Astros lead the Washington Nationals 3-2 with game six tonight (5:07 PT) and game seven, if needed, Wednesday night in Houston.

The road team has won the first five games in the World Series.

The Astros outscored the Nationals 19-3 (scores of 4-1, 8-1 and 7-1) in the three games in Washington.

Canada West Basketball: (UNBC Timberwolves)

With the UNBC Timberwolves soccer season complete, attention now turns to basketball.

The Timberwolves open their Canada West regular season with home games this week against the Victoria Vikes.

: (Final game in week 8)

The (3-4) Steelers erased a 14-0 deficit.

There is just one weekend left in the CFL regular season.

The (12-5) Saskatchewan Riders can clinch first place in the West Division with a win at home against the Eskimos Saturday (1:00 PT).

The Stampeders close out the regular season when they visit the (5-12) BC Lions Saturday night at 7:00.
