Four nighttime road rehabilitation projects begining this week

Prince George Drivers may soon notice four major road rehabilitation projects starting this week on busy roads and intersections.

Crews will begin preparation work on George Street between 1st Avenue and 6th Avenue, with repaving set to begin next week.

Meanwhile, milling operations will start this week on 3rd Avenue between Quebec and George Street.

Work will start at 7 P.M. nightly to reduce disruption to businesses and motorists alike.

Two high-traffic intersections will also be receiving nighttime work starting this week:

  • The intersection of Massey Drive and Westwood Drive
  • The intersection of O’Grady Road and Domano Boulevard

All projects are set to be done by June 24th, although schedules are subject to change.

So far this year, crews have completed near half of the 36 scheduled road projects.

The BC Government’s initiative to rehabilitate Highway 16 from Victoria Street and 20th Avenue all the way to the Old Cariboo Highway is still progressing through the downtown area.

A project to install new curbs and gutters along Patricia Boulevard has begun and will end with the repaving of the sidewalk.

Construction, including the relocation of streetlights, has started on a new sidewalk along Queensway from Connaught Drive to Lower Patricia Boulevard.

Finally, the operation to install a water main connection to the new fire hall under construction on Massey Drive is expected to continue into next week.

As a result, Carney Street will be closed to all traffic from Winnipeg Street to Ellison Drive.

The full announcement can be read on the City of Prince George’s website.
