Safe, Clean, Inclusive Committee recommendations to be heard by Council

Prince George City Council will be hearing initial recommendations from the Select Committee on a Safe, Clean and Inclusive Community tomorrow (Monday) night.

City Council identified several priorities for the 2020 term including identification of the City’s role in implementing BC’s poverty reduction strategy – Together BC.

Council identified supporting initiatives that provide access to safe housing, food, and community services, as a Social Health and Well-being focus area.

From November 2019 – 20, 22 recommendations regarding the city’s role in implementing the province’s strategy were created.

A community engagement process on these recommendations will begin next month.

Following the consultation period, the Committee will reconvene to consider feedback and amend recommendations as necessary.

The final report, informed by those with lived experience of poverty, is scheduled for later this year.

  • Council will hear an updated report on the George Street Parkade expenditures
  • Prince George RCMP will present its 2020 Year in Review
  • The Downtown Service Enhancement Package recommends reallocating the $400,000 annual budget from Civic Facilities security service costs to Bylaw Services, to hire four Bylaw Enforcement Officers
