“We are booking into 2022,” : Local travel agents rolling with the pandemic punches

With fewer people using airlines to get to and from Prince George, travel agents are feeling the crunch of the pandemic.

Expedia Cruises Owner Miranda Kynoch told MyPGNow.com they saw a 98% drop in bookings last year as they specialize in destination weddings and luxury travel.

She added with so much uncertainty for this year, many people are looking ahead to 2022.

“We are booking a lot of 2022 right now. We are very big into bucket list type trips and safaris and cruises and bigger group travel and that kind of stuff.”

“We do have a lot of clients that have pent-up demand and are looking forward to a lot of bucket-list trips coming up so that is helping us look forward to what’s coming.”

Kynoch mentioned they have to do a lot more research due to differing restrictions within Canada and around the world.

She said a small section of people still need to travel when it comes to business or family.

“We are hopeful for the fall and winter travel but our business isn’t going to depend on it and we are just going to wait as to what will happen with our government.”
