(The loss ended the Cougars 3-game win streak and 6-game point streak. The (3-15-2) Royals jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Connor Bowie tallied for the Cats in the final minute of the second period. P.G. outshot Victoria 34-21 with Ty Young taking the loss in net. The (9-8-2-1) Cougars play the Kelowna Rockets tonight at 6:00 in Kamloops before concluding their season Wednesday night against the Blazers)

(The win officially clinched top spot for the Blazers in the BC Division)

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings will conclude their season tonight against the Chilliwack Chiefs. Game time is 5:00. The winner will capture first place in the 3-team Chilliwack Pod. Both teams are coming off a victory over the Merritt Centennials. Prince George blanked Merritt 3-0 Friday and the Chiefs edged the (3-17) Centennials 4-3 Saturday. The (13-5-0-1) Spruce Kings are a point ahead of the (13-6) Chiefs.

(Connor McDavid notched a goal and three assists to give him 100 points in 53 games.  The (20-26-3) Canucks, with seven games left, visit the (28-22-3) Winnipeg Jets on Monday and Tuesday)

World women’s curling:
(in Calgary)

Team Canada, skipped by Kerri Einarson, lost 8-3 to Sweden in the quarterfinals at the world women’s curling championship in Calgary. Canada earned the sixth and final playoff spot after a 7-6 record in the preliminary round. The Gold Medal game today (Noon PT) will feature Switzerland against Russia. The Bronze Medal game has Sweden vs. USA. In the semis, Switzerland whipped the Americans 7-3 and Russia edged Sweden 8-7.
