Local Francophone community hosting annual Corn Roast event

Le Cercle Des Canadiens Français De Prince George is hosting their annual Corn Roast event next Saturday from 4 – 7 pm.

The organization works to welcome local Francophone community members and help them settle in to living life in Prince George.

This year, the Corn Roast event will be retro-themed and will be celebrated with live music, performances, games, food, and a costume contest with prizes to welcome newcomers and any Anglophone residents that wish to participate as well.

Érika Lacaille, Communications Coordinator for the Welcoming Community Project at Le Cercle Des Canadiens Français De Prince George says the annual Corn Roast is a family-friendly event for everyone.

“It’s happening just outside our building here at 1762 1st and it’s going to be an outdoor fun, safe event and we’re going with a retro theme this year so there will be a retro costume contest so people can come dressed in whatever retro decade they’re feeling and join us for live music and there’ll be a dance performance.”

Burgers, hot dogs and deserts will also be offered as the group will be barbecuing and participants can also enter to win a door prize.

“There will also be a corn eating contest, so whoever eats the corn on the cob the fastest can win a prize as well,” Lacaille added.

Attendees are being asked to RSVP to the event in order to maintain proper social distancing measures.

In order to register, residents can head to the Communauté Francophone Accueillante de PG Facebook page or call the group at 250 561 2565 or by emailing [email protected].
