WHL:

The Prince George Cougars split their two-weekend road games in their final action prior to their Christmas break.

The Cougars beat the Kamloops Blazers 5-2 Friday before they lost 3-1 to the Vancouver Giants on Saturday.

The loss snapped the Cougars’ five-game win streak.

The Giants scored late in the first period and added two more in the second to erase a 1-0 deficit before 2,696 fans in Langley.

Jaren Brinson tallied for the Cougars, his first WHL goal.

Ty Young took the loss in net with 27 saves as Prince George outshot Vancouver 35-30.

The (13-15) Cougars will host Everett on Dec 28th and 29th and also entertain Kamloops on Dec 31st.

Prince George is 4th in the B.C. Division, three points behind both Kelowna and Vancouver and four ahead of Victoria.

Taylor Gauthier made 38 saves as Kamloops outshot P.G. 40-35.

Craig Armstrong snapped a 2-2 tie at 6:43 of the third and the Cats put the game away with a couple of empty-net goals.

The Canadian Hockey League has announced that 10 games from the 2021-22 regular-season schedule will be televised by TSN. The broadcast schedule includes the PG Cougars at the Vancouver Giants on Friday, Jan 14th at 7 PM.

The Prince George Spruce Kings dropped a pair of one-goal decisions on the road in their final action prior to Christmas.

The Spruce Kings fell 4-3 Friday to Salmon Arm and 2-1 Saturday to Vernon.

NHL: (One Canadian team in action on Sunday)

Due to four postponed games, the Vancouver Canucks are scheduled to be off until Monday, Dec 27th when they host the Seattle Kraken.

The (14-15-2) Canucks are 6-0 under coach Bruce Boudreau.

The NHL has postponed all cross-border games until after Christmas.

Chicago Blackhawks forward Brett Connolly of Prince George has been slapped with a four-game suspension by the NHL. Connolly was given the suspension for his hit Saturday night on Dallas Stars forward Tanner Kero, which led to Kero being taken off the ice on a stretcher.

NFL: (Week 15)

The 11-3 Packers hold down the top-seed in the NFC and the best record in the NFL.
