A new government grant hopes to strengthen and build relationships with local wine consumers.
$100,000 dollars was recently granted to the BC Wine Institute, who will use this funding to encourage consumers to continue to buy local.
BCWI’s Lindsay Kelm spoke about what their aim is with their Ambassador program:
“It’s really just to insure that thats what consumers are looking for when they’re in stores, when they’re in resturaunts; that they are looking to help their local economy as well. As every bottle of BC VQA wine [sold] it goes back to the wine makers and grape growers and you are really tying it all together into your community”
Kelm says the ambassador program sees hospitality and wine retail workers better prepared to make BC Wine recommendations to the public, and maximize local wine sales.
Already the BCWI has hosted 25 training sessions, reaching employees all across the Province, including PG.
