WHL:

WHL playoff fever has hit Prince George with the first-place Cougars to host the 8th-place Spokane Chiefs on the long weekend.

As of this morning (Thursday), less than 800 tickets remain for the Friday 7 pm opener and about 1,200 are available for Game Two Saturday night at 6:00.

The Cougars, who have won nine straight (with a 19-game point streak) are 1st in the final CHL Top 10 rankings of the season.

In the 2-3-2 format, Games 3 and 4 will go in Spokane on April 2nd and 3rd with the if needed games set for April 5th in Spokane, April 8th in Prince George and Wednesday, April 10th in P.G.

BCHL:

The (15-34-3) Prince George Spruce Kings conclude their BCHL regular season this weekend on the road.

They visit the (32-19-1) Vernon Vipers on Friday and the Merritt Centennials on Saturday.

The Spruce Kings are big underdogs against the first-place Penticton Vees in the first round of the BCHL Interior Division playoffs.

The best-of-seven series will open in Penticton on April 5th and 6th before shifting to Prince George for Games 3 and 4 on April 9th and 10th.

The if needed games are set for April 12th in Penticton, April 14th in Prince George and April 16th in Penticton.

NHL: (2 Wednesday games)

The (45-19-8) Vancouver Canucks, with 10 games left in their regular season, host the (45-19-9) Dallas Stars tonight at 7:00.

It is one of 14 Thursday games in the NHL with all Canadian teams in action.

The Stars, who have won five straight, lead the Central Division with 99 points, one more than the Pacific Division-leading Canucks.

It is opening day for the Toronto Blue Jays and most Major League teams.
