Low-energy homes presentation to be hosted by UNBC

Prince George residents will get a first-hand look at how to build a low-energy home to the Passive House standard.

A presentation is slated for tomorrow night (Wed) at 6 pm from UNBC’s Weldwood Theatre.

President of the Canadian Passive House Initiative, Rob Bernhardt says he has one tip for people who are leaning this direction.

“The typical thing for most people to do is by taking a course of some sort to become more familiar with it or to hire someone who is trained on how it’s done.”

Barnhardt adds the presentation is open to everyone.

“It really applies to anyone including industry professionals whether they are architects or builders interested in high-performance buildings will have something to learn from this meeting.”

A Passive House home uses 90% less heating energy and only needs a small electric resistance heater.

The opening remarks will be provided by UNBC Professor Guido Wimmers who runs the Integrated Wood Design course.
