The Prince George Track and Field Club has handed out its annual awards. 18 year olds Carly Frenkel and Kirsten Ward were named Most Outstanding senior female athletes. Frenkel earned 12 medals, including 7 gold. The Most Outstanding senior men were 18 year old Zach Matyas (Mat-e-us) and Jeremy Matte.

In the youth age group 17 year old Alex Nemethy and 16 year old Cole Dinsdale were both named Most Outstanding.
The Most Outstanding youth girls were 14 year old Lindsay King and Kendel Rogers.

The Most Outstanding junior boys were Simon Nemethy and Tanner Matheson while on the girl’s side Taigan Wheele, Cassidy Campbell and Morgan Wiebe were named Most Outstanding.

Sinead O’Callaghan and Carly Frenkel won the club’s Al Rivas Memorial Scholarships.

–The Prince George Cougars are carrying 29 players, 16 of which are veterans. The Cougars roster includes, 3 goalies, 10 defencemen & 16 forwards with one pre-season game left Friday in Kamloops. The Cougars cut three players (Monday), including 20-year-old veteran goalie Adam Beukeboom. They also released 17-year-old defenceman Kobe Eagletail and 18-year-old defenceman Royce Rossignol. In addition, the Cats returned three 15-year-olds (forwards Justin Almeida and Ethan O’Rourke and defenceman Max Martin) back to their midget teams.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings play the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in an exhibition game tonight in 100 Mile House. The Spruce Kings roster sits at 24 (2 goalies, 7 defencemen and 15 forwards). The Spruce Kings also meet the Vipers in Vernon on Friday and host Vernon Saturday
to conclude their pre-season.
