NHL:

Brad Morrison of Prince George has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the LA Kings.

Morrison helped the Hurricanes reach the WHL Eastern Conference Final and is leading the league in playoff scoring with 37 points (16G, 21A) in 16 games.

He was named WHL Player of the Week Monday and CHL Player of the Week Tuesday after scoring four goals and three assists in three games.

The 21-year-old Morrison played five seasons in the WHL, the first four with the PG Cougars, and the final one with both the Vancouver Giants and the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The other two NHL Conference semis resume tonight: Tampa at Boston (4PM, Series 1-1) and Vegas at San Jose (7PM, Golden Knights up 2-1).

 

WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE:

The WHL championship series for the Ed Chynoweth Cup will start Friday with the Everett Silvertips at the Swift Current Broncos.

It will be a 2-3-2 format.

Everett is 7-0 on the road in the playoffs.

The Prince George Cougars will pick 9th and 21st in the WHL Bantam Draft Thursday in Red Deer.

The Prince Albert Raiders have the third overall pick which was acquired in a 2016 trade with Prince George.

The Cougars acquired their two first round picks in trades this year with Prince Albert and Swift Current.

The Edmonton Oil Kings will select first overall followed by the Kootenay Ice.

 

DOYLE CUP JUNIOR HOCKEY:

Wenatchee Wild  4  Spruce Grove Saints  3
(Wenatchee leads the best-of-seven series 3-0 and they will go for a sweep tonight in Spruce Grove) 

The Doyle Cup winner will advance to the RBC National Junior ‘A’ Championship May 12th to 20th in Chilliwack.

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

The Prince George Spruce Kings have added forward Nick Poisson (01) from the Burnaby Winter Club to their roster for the 2018-19 season.

He is the younger brother of Ben Poisson, who was the second leading scorer with the Spruce Kings (51 points in 53 games) during the 17-18 season.

Nick scored 17 goals and added 25 assists during last year’s Midget Prep Season in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL).

 

PRINCE GEORGE SENIOR LACROSSE:

The Prince George Senior Lacrosse regular season will continue tonight at 8 at Kin 1 as the defending champion RPR Mechanical/J.R. Construction Bandits battle the Co-op Petroleum Stylers.

The Bandits are 1-0 and the Stylers 0-1.

The only NBA playoff game tonight has Utah at Houston (5PM); the Rockets lead the Jazz 1-0.

The second round series between the Celtics and Philadelphia 76’ers will resume Thursday night at 5:30 in Boston with the Celtics up 1-0.

Toronto Blue Jays  7  Minnesota Twins  4  (10 innings)

The 17-12 Blue Jays go for a three game sweep of the 9-16 Twins today (10:10AM) in Minnesota.

Toronto is third in the AL East, two games behind the 19-10 NY Yankees and four back of the 21-8 Boston Red Sox.
