Canada West First Star is a Good(ey) choice

The shutout man!

Timberwolves goalkeeper Rob Goodey has been recognized for his outstanding play in net for the UNBC men’s soccer team.

The third-year business student from Langley is the men’s Canada West first star of the week.

Goodey posted back-to-back shutouts at home on the weekend to run his streak to three games without allowing a goal.

On Friday, Goodey made six saves and faced 16 shots and seven corners in a 1-0 victory over the Lethbridge Pronghorns.

On Sunday, he also had six saves while facing 18 shots in a 1-0 win over the Calgary Dinos.

Goodey’s streak started with a six-save shutout in a 3-0 triumph on the road at Saskatchewan on September 16th.

He now sits top three in save percentage (.846) and shutouts (3) in Canada West, helping the UNBC men to second place in the Pacific Division with a 3-1-2 record.

The Timberwolves play Thursday night in Victoria in a make-up game.
