The City of Prince George released a statement this morning saying their investments in road rehabilitation in the past few years have reduced the number of potholes on City streets.

Since City Council first increased the road rehabilitation budget from $3.5 Million per year in 2011 to more than $5 Million in 2012, the number of potholes crews have to patch each year has fallen by almost 70 percent from a high of 22,000 in 2012 to fewer than 7,000 last year. The number of pothole-related complaints received by the Service Centre has also seen a reduction from nearly 2,000 in 2012 to about 900 in 2018.
According to the City, in 2017 and 2018, about $1.35 Million in funding from the Federal Gas Fax Fund was reallocated from the Road Rehabilitation budget in response to feedback from residents during Talktober to increase investments in City parks and sidewalks.
