High school students trying to reduce stress

Students in School District 57 are proposing a new idea to combat student stress.

They are asking for a one hour period to either catch up on homework or do extra-curricular activities.

District Student Advisory Committee Member and Kelly Road Grade 12 Student Kyle Rowell says this would be a huge help

“Especially for some kids who; homework, classes, job, homework, classes job. That’s their schedule, cut out sleep every now and then. This extra block of extracurricular time has become very beneficial.”

Rowell said senior students especially have high levels of stress and they prepare and try to keep their grades high for post secondary.

He added that they already have a similar schedule in place at Kelly Road and it’s a big help for the students.
