PG SPRUCE KINGS:
An estimated 200 fans joined the Spruce Kings at a public reception downtown on Tuesday that was hosted by the City of Prince George.
Many of the players on the team will leave P.G. today.
The Spruce Kings finished 24-5 in the post-season, with four of those losses against the Brooks Bandits in eight games against them.
Prince George was 2nd out of 133 Jr. A teams in Canada after winning the BCHL title, Doyle Cup and reaching the national final (a 4-3 loss to Brooks).

PG Spruce Kings forward Nick Poisson is the final BCHL Player of the Week for the 2018-19 season.
The 17-year-old Poisson scored in all six games for Prince George at the nationals.

Former Prince George Cougars assistant coach Jason Becker has been hired as head coach of the midget prep team at St. George’s School in Vancouver.
Becker spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach with the Penticton Vees.
Ex P.G. Cougars GM Todd Harkins is the head of hockey at St. George’s and is also the head coach of the bantam prep team.

The Hart Judo Academy and Prince George Judo Club combined to bring home five bronze medals from the
Canadian Judo Championships in Edmonton.
Kimiko Kamstra (Hart) took bronze in the U21 -48 kg class (Saturday) and again in Senior women -48 (Sunday).
Maxwell Young (Hart) captured bronze in u21 -60 kgs (Saturday).
Tami Goto (PG) and Caleigh Kuramoto (PG) also had a third-place finish.
