Cougars welcome back leading scorer Vladislav Mikhalchuk

The scoring touch of the Prince George Cougars got a much-needed boost.

The WHL club announced today (Wednesday) 20-year-old forward Vladislav Mikhalchuk has returned to the team.

In a corresponding move, the Cougars dealt import forward Matéj Toman to the Saskatoon Blades, for a sixth-round Bantam Draft pick in 2021.

Mikhalchuk returns to Prince George after starting the season with Torpedo Nizhny
Novgorod in the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia.

The Minsk, Belarus product split this season between the KHL and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod’s affiliate Torpedo-Gorky
in the Vysshaya Hokkeinaya Liga (VHL).

This will be Mikhalchuk’s third season with the Cats after he led the team in scoring last
with 50 points in 68 games.

In two WHL seasons, Mikhalchuk has amassed 39 goals and 44 assists in 128 career games.

Toman was in his second season with the Cougars and was seventh in team scoring with six
points (3g, 3a) in 16 games.

Mikhalchuk is expected to arrive in Prince George tomorrow and could make his season
debut Friday, when the Cougars host the Victoria Royals at the CN Centre.

Earlier today, the Cougars named Houston product Josh Maser their captain.
