The Vanderhoof Rippers are very impressed with the turnout for their Fastball game.
Spencer Siemens was on the field, and says for Thursdays game, over 400 locals showed up:
“… and they just told us that they really hope to see more of these events in town, because sometimes in small communities there is a lack of organized sporting events that are for older aged people”
Siemens says the game was close at first, but in the end the Canadian Champion Regina Petro Hawks came away with the 10-2 victory.
He spoke to some of the Petro Hawks after the game, and says they enjoyed their time in Vanderhoof, and would definitely return for a re-match.
Siemens also mentioned that their 50/50 draw accumulated over $650, and says the interest from the community has definitely increased. Something they were striving for.
