This year’s Parkinson’s SuperWalk saw over a hundred members of community members gather at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.
The SuperWalk is in support of those living with Parkinson’s disease, while raising funds for critical research, and information, with efforts to bring a mobility clinic to the northern capital.
Organizer Gina Beddome said Prince George has been tremendous in showing that support.

“Having people turn out that we don’t know to support Parkinson’s, and families with Parkinson’s, it is such a boost for morale that people that have to wake up and live with Parkinson’s every day, to know that they have the support of the Prince George community.”
SuperWalk Volunteer Shirley Bond said fundraising during this event is critical, adding awareness is just as important.
“When you have individuals who are prepared to share their story like Selen Alpay, we definitely have seen growth in the number of people attending the support group.”
“We’ve had people actually speak up and say ‘I have Parkinson’s’, and for a lot of people, that hasn’t been something their willing to do.”
The fundraiser will continue after the SuperWalk until the end of September, which can be done on Parkinson Society British Columbia’s website here.
