Millar captures PG Triathlon

In a close finish, 37-year-old Robert Millar of Smithers won the Prince George Triathlon, finishing the Olympic distance 1.5k swim, 40k bike and 10k run in 2:15:33, just 18 seconds ahead of defending champion Michael Buchanan. The top female was Marika Jurgens in 2:28:17. 27 athletes were entered in the Olympic distance event at West Lake Provincial Park. The Sprint division (half the distance) was captured by Malcolm Stinson in 1:11:06 followed by Bill Newman in 1:13:22. The PG Duathlon title went to Dan Bedard in 1:48:14.
