Two downtown area blazes keep Prince George Fire crews busy

Fire crews in Prince George were kept on their toes early this morning responding to a pair of structure fires.

The first one happened just after 2 AM on the 1700 block of 5th Avenue where crews found an abandoned home with heavy smoke and flames coming from the residence.

The responding crews then extinguished the blaze where major damage was sustained to the residence.

A dollar loss estimate is not available at this time.

The structure was vacant with no injuries to fire personnel.

The second blaze took place on the 2200 block of Redwood Street about an hour later.

Crews put out a fire from a residence after smoke was discovered on the right side.

Significant damage was sustained to the laundry room after it originated there but was later extinguished.

A family of three was home at the time of the incident but were evacuated safely.

Luckily, no one was hurt and the matter is under investigation
