Canada West Basketball:

The UNBC Timberwolves are on the road for Canada West basketball play-in games.

The #12 UNBC women (8-12) play the #5 Fraser Valley Cascades (14-6) today (Friday) at 11 am (PT) in Edmonton.

The winner will meet the #4 University of Alberta Pandas (15-5) in the quarterfinals Saturday at 11 am (PT).

The #9 UNBC men (8-12) battle the #8 Regina Cougars (10-10) tonight at 7:00 in Victoria.

The winner advances to the quarterfinals Saturday night at 7:00 against the #1 Victoria Vikes (17-3).

WHL:

The (24-23-4) Prince George Cougars return to action Monday at 2:00 when they host the (36-12-2-2) Portland Winterhawks in the first of a doubleheader.

The same two teams also play Tuesday night at 7:00 at CN Centre.

Prince George is 6th in the Western Conference, four points behind both Everett and Tri-City.

Portland is 2nd in the U.S. Division, four points behind Seattle.

The (22-16-3-1) Prince George Spruce Kings head to Burns Lake to battle the (21-15-4-1) Salmon Arm Silverbacks Saturday night at 7:00 and Sunday at noon.

Prince George is 4th in the 9-team Interior Division, a point ahead of Salmon Arm.

(U18 male)  

The (15-14-1-2) Under-18 Cougars host the (23-3-4-2) Greater Vancouver Canadians Saturday night at 6:30 and Sunday morning at 11:00 at Kin 1.

Greater Vancouver is 1st and Cariboo is 6th in the 9-team division.
