The Northern BC Home and Garden Show in Prince George saw a slew of people pack the Kin Centres to officially kick off spring and renovation season.

“Attendance was up and I think the snow is quickly becoming a distant memory and even though it was pretty cold and chilly and even a little windy, folks were just aching to get out and get busy with the great outdoors and working on their yards,” says Terri McConachie, Event Organizer.

“From opening day to the pancake breakfast on closing day, we are absolutely thrilled and we’re just really glad the folks enjoyed the show as much as we enjoy putting it on their behalf.”

To no one’s surprise, the crappy closet contest was a hit with the public.

“Voters had a hard time determining just who had the crappiest closet in Prince George. Ultimately, we were able to come up with a winner and the person will be thrilled to receive the grand prize of the $2,000 worth of home organizing systems.”

The weekend event also included bird and playhouse auctions where a local non-profit organization turned out to be the big winner.

“Rona Prince George built two playhouses and when those playhouses were auctioned off at home show they raised $8,000 for the Prince George Hospice and our birdhouse auction also raised $2,000 for them,” added McConnachie.

She adds our home is our biggest asset and largest expense at times, so it was great to see people wanting to improve them.
