WHL: (PG Cougars)

The WHL regular season begins this weekend.

The Prince George Cougars open with home games against the defending Western Conference champion Vancouver Giants tonight and Saturday.

The Giants are #10 in the CHL pre-season Top 10 Rankings.

Saskatoon Blades Head Coach Mitch Love of Quesnel has been named Head Coach for Team WHL for the 2019 Canada Russia Series in Saskatoon and Prince Albert.

Team WHL will host Team Russia November 13 in Saskatoon and November 14 in Prince Albert.


BCHL: (PG Spruce Kings)

The (1-1-2) Prince George Spruce Kings play their first road game of the season tonight in Chilliwack against the (1-3) Chiefs.

They also visit the (0-3) Langley Rivermen Saturday and the (2-0) Coquitlam Express Sunday.

BC Major Midget League: (Cariboo Cougars)

The Cariboo Cougars open their season this weekend.

The Major Midget Cougars host the Thompson Blazers Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Kin 1.

The Cougars will raise their 2019 playoff championship banner just prior to puck drop on Saturday.

NHL:
(Pre-season in Edmonton)

Vancouver Canucks  6  Edmonton Oilers  1

The Canucks have four pre-season games left starting Saturday against the LA Kings in Salt Lake City.

Canada West Women’s Soccer:

The (2-1-1) UNBC Timberwolves women’s soccer team will host the (0-2-2) Lethbridge Pronghorns tonight at 6:00 and the (0-4) Mount Royal Cougars Sunday at noon at Masich Place Stadium.

Canada West Men’s Soccer:

The (3-3-1) UNBC men’s soccer team will play two games this weekend in Edmonton against the (1-4-1) Alberta Golden Bears Saturday afternoon and the (1-3-2) MacEwan Griffins Sunday afternoon.

NFL
:

After just 11 days with the team, the New England Patriots have cut receiver, Antonio Brown.

He played just one game with the Pats.

Brown is at the centre of sexual assault and sexual misconduct allegations.

Jacksonville Jaguars  20  Tennessee Titans  7

Both teams are 1-2.

There are 14 NFL games on Sunday and the home team is favoured in each of them.

Both Dallas (against Miami) and New England (against the NY Jets) are home and favoured by more than 20 points.

(The Dolphins have been outscored 102-10)

The Seattle Seahawks are 4-point favourites against the visiting New Orleans Saints.

Nine NFL teams are 2-0. They are New England, Buffalo, Baltimore and Kansas City in the AFC plus Dallas, Green Bay, Seattle, San Francisco and the LA Rams in the NFC.

Detroit is unbeaten at 1-0-1.

The eight teams sitting 0-2 are Miami, NY Jets, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Denver in the AFC plus the New York Giants, Washington and Carolina in the NFC.

Arizona is winless at 0-1-1.

CFL:

A pair of Friday night games to kick off week 15 of the CFL season.

(8-4) Calgary plays at (2-9) Toronto (4:00 PT) followed by (9-3) Hamilton at (6-6) Edmonton (6:30 PT).

The BC Lions complete a home-and-home against the (3-9) Ottawa RedBlacks Saturday (4:00 PT) in Ottawa.

The (2-10) Lions crushed the RedBlacks 29-5 in Vancouver last week.

Ottawa has lost its last five.

West-leading (9-3) Winnipeg plays at (6-5) Montreal (Saturday 1:00 PT).

MLB:

Toronto Blue Jays  8  Baltimore Orioles  4

The (62-91) Jays swept the three-game series.

Toronto continues a six-game road trip this weekend against the (100-54) New York Yankees starting tonight.

The Yanks have clinched their first AL-East pennant in seven years.

Toronto will host Baltimore Sept 23rd, 24th and 25th and Tampa Bay on Sept. 27th, 28th and 29th to complete its regular season.
