Prince George Cougars 3 Spokane Chiefs 1
The Prince George Cougars got their first win on the road last night against the Spokane Chiefs. They’ve now won back-to-back games with their first win of the season coming last Saturday against the Kelowna Rockets.
Taylor Gauthier made 44 saves against the Chiefs to help lead the Cougars to their first win in Spokane since March 11, 2017.
The (2-4-0-1) Cougars, who are 1-1-0-1 on the road, play tonight in Tri-City against the (4-3) Americans.
Prince George will also host Spokane Oct. 18th and 19th.

Nanaimo Clippers 5 Prince George Spruce Kings 4 (SO)
The (4-5-2-1) Prince George Spruce Kings dropped their first of a four-game homestand to the Nanaimo Clippers last night.
Prince George will take on the (9-2-1) Salmon Arm Silverbacks today.
Prince George is 4th in the Mainland Division, one point behind the (6-6) Langley Rivermen, and seven back of the (9-2) Coquitlam Express and the (8-4-0-1) Chilliwack Chiefs.
The Spruce Kings have a new Associate Coach.
Colin Minardi replaces Jessie Leung who stepped down due to personal reasons.
The 28-year-old Minardi had been coaching through the midget ranks in the Okanagan before taking the job with Prince George.

BC Major Midget League:(Cariboo Cougars)
The (3-0-0-1) Cariboo Cougars visit the (0-3-1) Valley West Giants today (11:15 a.m.) and Sunday (8:30 a.m.) in Abbotsford.
The Major Midget Cougars are in 5th place but have two games in hand on the four teams ahead of them.

Edmonton will be in New York to face the Rangers this morning (10:00 a.m. PT). The Oilers are 4-0, tied for the best record in the league with Carolina.
The Ottawa Senators will host the Tampa Bay Lightning (1:00 p.m. PT).
Reigning Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues will visit Montreal to face the Canadiens.
The Maple Leafs will be in Detroit to face the Red Wings in an Original 6 tilt (4:00 p.m. PT)

Canada West Women’s Soccer: (UNBC Timberwolves)
This is the second last weekend in the Canada West soccer regular season.
The (3-3-4) UNBC Timberwolves women’s soccer team will visit the (8-0-2) Calgary Dinos today and Sunday (11 a.m. PT both days).

With four regular-season games left, all on the road, the Timberwolves are 5th out of eight in the Canada West Pacific Division where the top six teams advance to the playoffs.
The UNBC women close at Victoria on Oct. 18th and at UBC on the 19th.

Canada West Men’s Soccer:
The (4-6-3) UNBC men’s soccer team has two regular-season games left and both are against the (3-5-5) Thompson Rivers WolfPack on October 19th and 20th at 1:00 p.m. at Masich Place.
It does not appear that the Timberwolves will advance to the Canada West playoffs.
The UNBC men are 6th out seven in the Prairie Division, where just the top four move on to the quarterfinals.

McLeod Bethel-Thompson threw two touchdown passes as the Args held on for a home win over the REDBLACKS to snap a three-game losing streak Friday night.

Hergy Mayala scored his first two CFL touchdowns to lead the Stamps to a win over the Riders on Friday in front of 30,210 fans at McMahon Stadium.

The (5-10) BC Lions put a four-game win streak on the line when they visit the (7-8) Edmonton Eskimos this afternoon (4 p.m. PT).
The Lions need a victory to keep their slim crossover playoff hopes alive.
