MLB:

Toronto Blue Jays  8  Tampa Bay Rays  1

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., hit his major league-leading 45th homer for the Jays, who extended their winning streak to four games, scoring a whopping 52 runs in those victories. Toronto has won 12 of 13 overall. The (81-63) Blue Jays lead the AL Wild Card standings by one game over Boston and the Yankees. Toronto has 18 games remaining, 7 on the road and 11 at home. The Jays have seven left against Minnesota, five against Tampa, three against the Yankees, and three against Baltimore.

Triple-A Baseball:

Jared Young of Prince George is batting .270 since getting called up to AAA with the Iowa Cubs. The 26-year-old Young has four homers and 15 RBI’s in 27 games. He has been playing at first and third base plus some work in the outfield.

PG Cougars:

The Prince George Cougars concluded their 5-day training camp with Team Brewer winning the Charney Cup following a 6-2 victory over Team Hamhuis in the team’s Intra-squad game Monday night. The Cougars have pre-season games this week against the Blazers: Friday in Kamloops and Saturday in Prince George. Those planning to attend at CN Centre will have to provide proof of vaccination status.

CFL:

Week 7 of the CFL season starts on Friday with Calgary at Hamilton (4:00 PM PT) followed by Toronto at Saskatchewan (6:45). The Saturday games have B.C. at Montreal (4:00 PM) and Winnipeg at Edmonton (6:45).

Standings:

West: Winnipeg 5-1, Saskatchewan and B.C. 3-2, Edmonton 2-3, and Calgary 2-4
East:  Toronto 3-2, Montreal 2-2, Hamilton 2-3, and Ottawa 1-4.

Canada West Soccer:

The UNBC Timberwolves have their Canada West soccer home openers this weekend against Trinity Western. Game times on Friday and Saturday are 5:00 PM for the women followed by the men at 7:15 at Masich Place. The UNBC men have a loss and a tie after two games while the UNBC women have a pair of losses.
